Overview

What is it?

A vacuum plant comprises two or more pumps in duty rotation, a vacuum receiver, bacterial filters, isolation valves that allow any unit to be serviced without interrupting the service, and a control panel with alarm signalling. Sizing ensures the plant covers the design load with the largest unit out of service, per the approved specification.

Features

  • Duty rotation that preserves service continuity
  • Bacterial filtration at plant inlet
  • Vacuum receiver to stabilise negative pressure
  • Isolation valves for unit-by-unit maintenance
  • Control panel with status and alarm signalling
  • Design providing exhaust discharge outside the building

Applications

  • Hospitals and medical complexes
  • Operating theatres and intensive care units
  • Emergency and inpatient departments
  • Dialysis centres
  • Day-surgery centres and clinics
  • Expansion and refurbishment projects in healthcare facilities

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How many pumps does a facility need?

The count is set so the plant still covers the full design load with the largest unit out of service; this is calculated during design from the number of suction terminals and diversity factors.
